RB Health's Clearasil products – including Clearasil Rapid Rescue Spot Treatment Cream, Clearasil Benzoyl Peroxide Stubborn Acne Spot Treatment Cream have been found to contain and/or degrade into benzene. Independent lab Valisure recently published finding of research performed on popular acne products. Several products, including those sold by RB Health, were found to contain and/or degrade into benzene. Exposure to certain amounts of benzene, a known human carcinogen, is unsafe.
Valisure found that “high levels of gaseous benzene could be generated” from benzoyl peroxide-containing products “and emanate into a consumer environment such as a hot car or bathroom during a hot shower.” Valisure’s data showed “approximately 1,270 times the previously mentioned EPA calculated threshold for increased cancer risk by long-term inhalation exposure to benzene.”
